Sometimes that just seems to make it harder to find what you&#8217;re looking for.  Here&#8217;s 3 ways to make Google smarter and get better results from your searches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Include synonyms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes a synonym of your original word will give you better results.  You don&#8217;t even need to know what all the synonyms are.  Just put the ~  (tilde) character in front of your word and Google will find all the synonyms, both singular and plural.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Search by file type<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can limit your search to certain file formats such as pdf, Word, PowerPoint or Excel by adding the expression filetype: to your search and including the specific file type you&#8217;re looking for after the colon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Search for special types of results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can limit your search to blog posts, videos, books, or photos on a certain subject if that&#8217;s what you want for results. Click on the word more at the top of the Google home page and then the word that describes the type of results you want.  (before you type in your search terms).
