\"\"Starting January 1, 2011, the IRS will no longer accept paper checks for payment of payroll taxes. All employers MUST pay their payroll taxes electronically. If you haven’t received official notice yet from the IRS, you will. Millions of taxpayers are affected by by the new rules so it will take a while for everyone to find out.<\/p>\n

A form called CP 247 went out December 2nd and the IRS estimates that it will take until January 31st, 2011 for all the notices to be delivered.<\/p>\n

But you can’t just sit and wait for your letter<\/h4>\n

Why not? Because your first payroll tax deposit will be due no later than January 15th<\/strong>, 2011 and you’ll have to be ready to pay it electronically by then. Depending on how you choose to sign up for EFTPS with the IRS, it could take a few days or a few weeks for your account to be activated. So you best get that process started NOW!<\/p>\n
