I strongly suggest that you begin your entrepreneurial endeavors with a home-based, low-operating-cost enterprise. I encourage you to test out your business idea before investing a lot of hours and dollars in it, even if that means beginning on a part-time basis.<\/p>\n

One of the most frustrating situations for many business startups is finding out that nobody really wants their fantastic new-fangled product or service. Big successes often come not from creating new and better products, but by delivering desired products (and services) in new and better ways.<\/p>\n

If you’re struggling to come up with ideas, check out this recent list of 998 business ideas<\/a> that was developed by nine students in Seth Godin’s alternative MBA program.<\/p>\n

Just to give you a taste of what they came up with, here are a few of my favorites:<\/p>\n

Prepackaged school supplies based on the list from school districts<\/p>\n

Internet & webcam set up service for seniors to communicate with grandkids<\/p>\n

Webcam security set up to watch kids, dogs, older parents<\/p>\n

Closet organization for adult men \u2013 Garanimalize their clothing for them after the fact<\/p>\n

Senior friend \u2013 hire people to come by to spend 30 minutes just hanging with your older relative who lives away from you<\/p>\n

Yoga services\/teachers for corporations during lunchtime<\/p>\n

A newsletter for people laid off of their jobs<\/p>\n
