October has been a pretty busy month for me. In addition to my “normal” business, I’m leading a business tax teleseminar for the International Association of Solopreneurs and helping plan some educational programs for my local chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA).
I also have a few classes to attend to complete my continuing education requirements for maintaining my CPA license. With all this activity, I’m especially grateful for the productivity-boosting strategies I’ve learned over the years.
These are my favorite keyboard shortcuts. Using them saves me a ton of keystrokes every day, making my work both faster and easier.
- Ctrl + C copies a block of highlighted text
- Ctrl + X deletes a block of highlighted text
- Ctrl + V pastes a block of highlighted text
- Ctrl + Z complete undo for the previous action
- Ctrl + A selects everything on the current page
- ALT + TAB switches between the open items
- Win + d hides all windows and shows only the desktop
- Ctrl + +or- changes the text size on a web page
- space bar scrolls down one screenful on a web page
- Shift+space scrolls up one screenful on a web page
Until you get in the hang of using these shortcuts routinely, print out a “cheat sheet” to keep at your desk. I guarantee it will be worth your time.
