About Sheryl

I’m a coffee-drinking, crossword-puzzle-solving, Aussie-loving, line-dancing, plain-talking Certified Public Accountant. And I’m on a mission to help freelancers, consultants, and independent contractors learn how to deal with all the tasks and functions of being business owners in addition to toiling as “worker bees” to serve their customers.

It’s rarely what you’re expecting when you start out on your own. It sure wasn’t when I opened my first business!

I’ve been involved in the financial world ever since I got my MBA from the University of Chicago. I worked several years on the audit staff of a large public accounting firm and was originally licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois in 1975.

I started my private practice in Indianapolis in 1976 and while I was there, I helped develop the tax curriculum for the Business Ownership Initiative of Indiana and its Central Indiana Women’s Business Center, where I taught workshops and classes about taxes, recordkeeping, and business startup.

I moved to Raleigh in 2011 and am certified in North Carolina and registered to practice here also.
